Garden of Life

Overall Rating:          3.5/5658010115674-_3

RAW Probiotics for Women are an excellent example of the typical probiotic supplement that can be found among Garden of Life’s products. With a higher-than-average CFU count and an “Arrive Alive” guarantee, they look like they could be a good supplement.

There is also a lot of vitamins, minerals, and other additional ingredients included. We tend to be wary of any probiotic that includes other supplements, as these can harm the cultures, cause an accidental overdose (for example, if a person is already taking a multivitamin and doesn’t cross compare), or lead to unwanted side effects.

What to expect from the strains

Of the 32 strains included, over a quarter of them are are lactobacillus strains. These also contain several kefir cultures, and in addition to the friendly bacterial strains, there are few strains of healthy, probiotic yeasts.

From this combination, users can expect a shift in overall intestinal flora, as well as an increase in their healthy yeast population.

The Good

These probiotics have several different strains included and a large CFU count. They are offered in several different locations throughout the country. Garden of Life is a popular, well-known brand name and this offers some users reassurance.

RAW Probiotics for Women include healthy yeast, a fantastic and necessary addition to any probiotic blend. Healthy yeasts will help to get the gut flora into perfect balance and keep the immune system functioning at peak performance.

The Bad

This probiotic requires that you take three capsules to get a full serving size, making this the most capsules required that we have seen in a probiotic supplement so far. This is very unfortunate for those who have trouble swallowing pills.

These probiotics are not shelf-stable, and need to be refrigerated. This is a risk for consumers, as they have little to no control in the storage practices of their distributors, and food safe guidelines for refrigerated items are based on preventing spoilage, not on preservation of live cultures.
